The last weekend in July saw a number of Curlew crews head up the M11 to St Neots for the Annual St Neots Regatta. More than a thousand rowers compete over both days of the weekend and is seen to be the largest regatta after Henley Royal Regatta. With a number of Senior boats unable to attend due to no competition, meant that the “Devs” were left to their own devices and to hold up Curlew pride. No Pressure.

Over recent years Curlew has come away from St Neots with a number of wins, but not this time. The women’s novice VIII, who came through our learn to row course did outstandingly, winning convincingly their first round and the Semi-Final. But came up against a very well drilled novice VIII from Poplar Blackwall & District, which was a shame. The novice men raced as well in the VIII and a coxed IV, but were up against some very well drilled novice boats. However, all these novices have caught the rowing bug and will be ready to cement their place over winter season, with the aim to take both novice VIIIs to the Head of the River in March. Onward and upwards.

We run adult only learn to row courses, if you are interested, please contact us via the contact page. We also welcome experienced rowers, coxes and coaches throughout the season, if you are looking at getting back into rowing. Please get in contact with us via the Contact page.
