Sunday 12th August saw Curlew Rowing Club host a afternoon dedicated to our alumni members, to try to reestablish links with our Curlew Past.

A great thank you to John Brunton and Paul Maloney who have been instrumental in getting over 50 people together to share some happy memories about our club. This has been very much at the forefront of this year’s committee, and a special thanks has to go to Laura Binns our Alumni Officer who has worked tirelessly over the past 10 months to try and establish names and faces.

Peter Blaseby and Jonathan Hood recounted some great Curlew times over the past 50 years – I think this will become an annual event! We had representatives from the 1950s, 60s, right through to the current Henley qualified crews who came to mingle with our guests.

Next stop for the Alumni are the AGM on the 22nd September, then we will be hosting a quiz night start of season, then I hope to see many faces at our formal Christmas Party in December.

We are constantly searching out for old Curlew Rowers who want to re-connect with their old club and clubmates. Please contact captain@curlewrowingclub.co.uk
