Dear Member,

What a month it has been for our club, after the flooding led to the cancellations of most head races, we now have to all battle a global pandemic. However, it is moments like these which prove that we have a great club spirit, a club full of great people pulling together and coming up with great ideas to keep us afloat during this difficult time.

To give you an update of what has been happening over the last 10 days.

1. 23rd We went live with our on line daily all body work out by Alex our coach. We are looking to further enhance that by doing group sessions over zoom…Watch out for more information on this.

2. Strava – we have a club on strava, where we play the weekly game of who is going to knock Angus off top spot. Please join, its a great way to track your training, see what other people are doing and help those members keep their motivation up in these tough times. https://www.strava.com/clubs/515777

3. Slack – Your new virtual club house, where you can chat, ask questions, get your training programme and where we will post about up coming socials, articles and also we will be posting pictures and articles from Curlew’s archive.

4. Socials –  we will rolling out some socials this coming week – however, please use slack to arrange socials and drinks with squad members!

What can you do to support the club over this period?
As we are all practising social distancing more of our shopping will be done online. A really simple and FREE way to support us during this difficult time is to sign up to easyfundraising. Every time you do your online shopping via easyfundraising, retailers donate money to Curlew Rowing Club, completely free.

Finally, we are a club run by our members, for our members, if you need help, encouragement or just someone to chat to over this time, please reach out! Talk to your Captains, your friends or just post on Slack. Our Coach Alex will be starting to reach out to people this week. A chance for you to get to know him and for him to get to know you!

From all the members of your Committee, I hope you and your family are safe, following governmental guidelines and keeping physically and mentally fit. We will all pull through this and Curlew RC will be there, ready and raring to go again!

Kind regards

Matthew Richardson
Chair
