As one Henley ends another begins! It’s time to count down our guys in Curlew B who, in the best tradition of East London Rowing chads (thanks Zest Express), love rowing so much they go to qualifiers because they want even more water time.
As ever, Curlew celebrates all its rowers going to Henley, and Captain Ben, with no complaints whatsoever, and complete grace, penned some words for each of the men he Captains.
Here’s what he had to say about the stroke of Curlew B, Gediminas Stasaitis, ahead of Friday’s attempt to qualify for the Wyfold Challenge Cup:
‘Ged’s one of our own. He may have learned to row at Curlew in 2020, but he learned to move a boat this season. The man, built like an ox, is going to transfer some serious wattage into the Thames on Friday, his first crack at qualifying for Henley.
Outside of the boat, you can find him…you can’t find him as he will have walked off somewhere’
Succinct!
On a personal level I am delighted to see Curlew’s homegrown talent pushing for the top level of rowing.
