Dear Curlew Members and Friends

I hope this email finds you well…

As if entering the summer regatta season isn’t exciting enough, Curlew has something new and interesting happening this June….!

Thanks to a lot of work by Curlew Member Angela Jones, Curlew Rowing Club and the Trafalgar Trust we are pleased to announce our very first fundraising Art Exhibition:

ARTIST2

 “East End Plus”

The artist is the world renowned, Maria-Theresa Fernandes and has been producing world class artworks for over 40 years, exhibiting internationally and winning numerous acclaimed awards.

Born in Kenya, Maria-Theresa is widely travelled, but has more recently been living in East London, where she has been working with less advantaged groups and preparing her latest works which, through drawings, etchings and embroidery, reflecting the rich cultural diversity of East End lives and architecture – including Canary Wharf, Curlew and rowing in East London!

The main exhibition will take place at the Club House from 26th June to 2nd July, and will be open daily from 11am to 7pm.

We are also arranging, by invitation only, reception with private viewing on the evening of 25th June.  This is specifically prospective buyers, those of you in the Club wishing to meet the artist in person, view the collection and reserve any pieces that catch your eye.

Any purchases made during the exhibition will not only allow buyers to take home a piece of beautiful and prized artwork, but Maria-Theresa is generously donating 25% of all sales to the Club, which will go towards the purchase of much needed new equipment.  If you wish to attend the private viewing have contacts who wish to attend, can you please let me know as soon as possible so I can reserve invitations.  It would be great to see as many of the Club members there in support of this venture.

Furthermore, delicious afternoon tea and cakes will be served throughout the week of the exhibition, with all of these funds also going to Curlew’s equipment pot.

The Invitation is open to your family, friends, and colleagues.  As some of Maria’s larger pieces are particularly suitable for corporate dressing/reception areas, please feel free to forward this on to any corporate contacts you feel will be interested.

(NOTE: I will be sending a further email which if you can send/circulate externally to help us market the event would be very much appreciated.)

This event is a great opportunity for us to raise Curlew’s profile in the area, promote our Learn to Row courses, and even showcase the Club House’s potential as a riverside events space.

 SO PLEEEEASE GET INVOLVED…

As with every Curlew event, its success depends on your invaluable support, so we do need volunteers to:

 Bake!!

  • Help staff the exhibition and private viewing evening; and
  • Staff the Curlew desk and assist with teas and coffees throughout the exhibition.

If you are able to volunteer in any way (even if this only half a day of your time), and/or wish to attend the private viewing yourself, then PLEASE EMAIL ME DIRECTLY with details of how/where you can help, and I will add you to the invite list.

Your generous Curlew help and support for this maiden venture is greatly appreciated.Cheers,

Maxine
