Danson Dashes recap.
Felix proves 22/23 is the season of The Cat! Yep, Felix is officially the top boy in South East London having eliminated the competition in the Danson Dashes. Here is a nice picture of him receiving his pot from the Mayor of Bexleyheath. Quite right too! Surely he will win crew of the year at the AGM?
ANYTHING ELSE WOULD BE A TRAVESTY AT THIS POINT.
So what else? In addition to a day of tremendous fun, our quad made the final but just missed out on the pot. Two of their number, Keith and Ryan, did five races! Our Dev 8 got their fastest time of the season 💪 with Henley Qualifier and official tall man Fabien at the helm. He probably wanted to get the race over as soon as possible. And we also got our our first woman dev eight this year! They had a great time and we hope to see them more next season.
Most important was the entry and race of our mixed double featuring Charlotte Green one of our coxes. Tired of dealing with rowers and who can’t count or take initiative she decided to show us how it should be done. The commentators were quick to point out the size differentials between our boat and our rivals Poplar, but could not help but acknowledge a truly impressive performance and ‘innovative’ steering from Charlotte and Felix. I heard that it was a tightly fought race all the way, the finish so close there was only a bow ball in it. And in one of the great injustices in the history of British Rowing, the pot was stolen from us. Any alternative reports of what happened are disinformation and you should ignore them.
Well done Curlew! That’s the season!
