Who’s that at the bow of Curlew RC’S 2023 Wyfold Challenge Cup crew? Why it’s Mr Fabien Mitchell.

Possessor of a excellent beard, Fabien has featured in all of our top crews for the fast four years and this year, even with the demands of being a new parent, he’s maintained that position, even the period of ceaseless seat racing courtesy of Coach Ewan. While equally as serious about rowing as his crew mates, he was the most up for some fun shots for these profiles. Ben however chose the shots and predictably selected this one showing Fabien’s stoic side. Ben also had this to say about his bow:

‘Assuming someone doesn’t knock him out in the next few days, Fabien will take to the course in his fourth Henley campaign.

He’s at bow in our reconfigured and now conventionally rigged Ava (who’d have thought it!). I know we can all sleep soundly on Monday night safe in the knowledge that nothing has ever gone wrong at Henley with Fabien at bow.

Known for peaking at the right time and winning seat races, we could definitely use some of this going down the course. Definitely *not* my brother.

Outside of the boat, you can find him arguing with literally anyone.’

Dear Ben. Fabien is your brother, the Henley commentators made that clear last year.

Well done Fabien and good luck!
