There was one upside of not qualifying for Henley Royal Regatta, it allowed me to traverse London to pick up 11 pictures which have been found and returned to the rowing club. James Bissell-Thomas a local antiques dealer and Globe Maker in Mortlake found 11 old pictures at a local antiques fair.
James is an award winning Globemakers, Greaves & Thomas are a small company based in the United Kingdom, today they make Historical Globes, Celestial Globes, Lunar Globes, Planetary Globes, Facsimile Globes, Replica Globes, Themed Globes, Paper Folding Globes, and Modern Day Globes. Arts Corespondent Jemmy Button looks into their history. For more information on James please click here.
These pictures will now be returned to the walls of our clubhouse for all to enjoy again. Its a great day for Curlew RC, made all the more important because it is our 150th year. James has kindly offered to write a piece for the website in regards to finding and restoring some of our history. I will publish onto the website once James has written it.
I would like to this opportunity to say on behalf of the club a massive thank you to James and his Family for the return of these pictures.
