If you join the senior men’s squad at Curlew RC, you’ll join a 30-strong (and growing!) group of guys who are competitive, a good laugh and love their rowing. The squad is comprised of rowers from a mix of backgrounds: those who have rowed their whole life; those who learned at university, and; those who have progressed through learn to row and the development squads at Curlew RC and reached the required standard. We have athletes early on in their rowing career through to those with international and national titles.
The senior men’s squad is focused on competitive racing, with Henley Royal Regatta (HRR) and Eights Head of the River (HORR) being the primary aims of the season. Curlew RC has successfully qualified 13 boats for HRR in the last 13 regattas. Most recently we have qualified in:
Athletes all follow the same land and water-based training programme, overseen by the Head Coach and both the Men’s and Club Captains. We have set training six days a week with optional training encouraged on days with no set training or only one session. Land training includes ergs, weights, yoga and circuits. Water sessions are Saturday and Sunday mornings throughout the year, with mid-week water-based sessions in the spring, summer and autumn.
All of the guys in the squad have full time jobs in London, lives outside rowing, and a number also have family commitments. We do not want to miss out on talent for these reasons, so we are flexible to the needs and requirements that come with life.
If you would like more information, please send the men’s captains an email via menscaptain@curlewrowingclub.co.uk – and we will endeavour to get you in a boat as soon as possible!
