A new look Curlew Rowing Club took to the water on the 30th October 2016 – This was Fred’s first race and the basic race plan was not to mess it up!
The men took four VIIIs, and the women took the two VIIIs. The aim was to race three VIIIs in the first division and three VIIIs in the second division – swapping over some crews and boats.
The men raced in IM1, IM2 and IM3 and the results were massively encouraging. Especially against some strong crews, including the Oxford Lwt VIII and a VIII from Thames RC.
Curlew men finished as follows:
1st in IM1 VIIIs
5th & 6th in IM2 VIIIs
4th in IM3 VIIIs
In the 2nd division Curlew was the 2nd fastest and were only 3 seconds behind Thames.
This was Fred’s first win as Head Coach of Curlew RC and hopefully will be one of many!
The ladies also had a very encouraging start to Fred’s reign with the following results:
3rd in WIM2 VIIIs
3rd in WIM3 VIIIs
IM1 winning crew – (Str. Matt, Mike, AMP, John, Lukas, Scott, Angus, Eoghan – coxed by Maxine)
